Women and WoW... Top guilds always full of sexists 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0

Sounds familiar?

Needless to say men take and see us women playing WoW in a different way. They hear our voice and jump into conclusions. I have been a few top raiding guilds and have experienced this. Women and WoW have a small ratio compared to men playing WoW. But I agree 90% of men that play WoW only 5% are exceptional players. So the rest of the men have brains like peas.

My husband plays WoW needless to say... I can tank better than his pally tank. And he knows it... but he can heal better than my pally (eventho she doesn't heal), but I do on my Priest . It urks him that I can tank better than him. We both have our competitions with our toons, it is fun . I giggle inside because I know he hates the fact that I am better than him on some of my toons. He asks me my rotation, what spells I use, what gems, enchants ect or how do I do this and that.

My best friend's husband is the same too... He hates the fact that she plays beyond better than him and is in one of the top raiding guilds (HORDE) as he sits in a low end raiding guild (HORDE) not passing Festergut.

This is basically why I have worked as hard as I have to become good at my class. I enjoy making sexist (and homophobic and racist) losers look bad.

Same here. I read forums, EJ, Wowikki, many related class websites for each of my toon classes. I stopped playing my Rogue eventhough I love my Rogue because my husband would bug the shit out me of my rotations, gemmin and enchants and what spec I was and why... I dueled him once, being undergeared than him and kicked his ass within seconds. He was shocked because he thought he was going to beat me because of his gear (he was pissed at me for the rest of the night ). It is not gear, it is how you play your toon. People now are so concerned about gear and think that is going to make them better, but it is not all about gear.

What I see happening often (other than accent jokes *sigh*), is that people are ready for me to do a wrong step and are very quick to judge when I do (or they perceive I do), because hey woman cannot play games right? Thankfully this doesn't happen a lot since I am a more than decent player who kicks the hell out of their backsides. However, this turned out to be a major issue in the guild I came to this server for. I was regemmed and respecced against my better judgment and then got kicked for not performing. Also I find that often I am taken for granted so treated poorly within the guild.

I don't know what makes people think that the moment they figure out you are a woman, that you need their AMAZING advice or that you must be the problem, or that you will be fine to be treated as the backup solution and be grateful for that. (lol my poor former guild learned this one the hard way. I almost feel sad for them).

The problem with this is that it is hard to pinpoint. It took me months to realize that I were not doing anything wrong and that it wasn't my playing or behavior that welcomes this type of attitude. Jokes I find easier to deal with. At least they are blatantly obvious. Humorous warning first. (*glare* or "hey knock it out" or "do you want heals or not" works well in that the other side do not get onto defensive). If that fails, verbal smackdown, stopping healing them, not rezzing them or raid kick if you are the lead (which has pretty much stopping effect on the rest of the raid as well).

But of course the experience is different for each of us.
